Información específica de la prueba
Upper Airway Syndrome (NTUAS) is a breathing disorder found in dogs. The disorder is linked to a mutation to the gene ADAMTS3. The mutation has been found in, amongst others, Norwich Terrier, French Bulldog and Staffordshire Bull Terrier.
NTUAS has an symptoms overlap with Brachycephalic Obstructive Airway Syndrome (BOAS), a disorder that causes breathing difficulties in brachycephalic dogs.
The main issues in affected dogs include a slightly elongated soft palate, extra tissue in the throat, and structural changes in the larynx. These abnormalities, caused by the ADAMTS3 mutation, can lead to breathing difficulties of varying severity. Further research is needed to fully understand the range of symptoms.
